Senior DRAM Product Engineer
Extreme Engineering Solutions is seeking a highly skilled engineer to ensure the successful integration of soldered down DDR SDRAM memory on advanced, ruggedized single board computers. X-ES uses a wide variety of memory topologies and memory controllers from various vendors including Intel, NXP (formerly Freescale), and Xilinx.

Specific duties and responsibilities may include:

  • Responsible for all phases of the memory design and testing process including: signal integrity simulation, 4-corner margin testing, and electrical validation
  • Assist in the debugging of hardware and software applications
  • Define layout rules, JEDEC compliance testing and signal quality measurements
  • Provide technical leadership for a team of simulation engineers, layout engineers, test engineers, and project managers with a primary goal of ensuring robust memory operation
  • Maintain relationships and collaborate with DRAM memory vendors

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering with a background in computer architecture
  • Knowledge in memory test patterns and DRAM reliability
  • Understanding of PCB design and high-speed signal integrity issues
  • Experience with Failure Analysis of DRAM devices
  • Experience with Intel, NXP (Freescale), and Xilinx memory controllers
  • Experience with DDR DRAM signal integrity simulation and timing analysis
  • Experience programming in C/C++ and Python is a plus

Principal duties:
The Director of the Grainger Engineering Design Innovation Laboratory is responsible for the management of a new facility currently planned for the College of Engineering. The facility is being designed to provide an accessible, safe, and broad opportunity for students to create prototypes and final products based on their engineering design ideas. Major capabilities will include 3D printing, electronics, including circuit board fabrication, and small machining. Students will use the facility for both curricular and extra-curricular activities.

The Director of the Grainger Engineering Design Innovation Laboratory is responsible for developing, supporting, and promoting programs offered by the facility.

The Director will perform the following duties:

– Develop policies for the use and management of the facility.
– Develop a plan for staffing the facility, in conjunction with existing facilities, such as the machine shops.
– Manage the permanent and student staff employed within the facility.
– Manage the supervision and training of users of the facility.
– Manage maintenance programs for all hardware in the facility.
– Manage the budget.
– Explore opportunities for the acquisition of new equipment.
– Develop and lead educational programs in the facility, including outreach and summer programs.
– Explore the development of design-related degree programs for engineering students.

– Establish a user community through social media and other means.

Hardware Test Engineer

Be a part of ensuring that Extreme Engineering Solutions products conform to required specifications through environmental and electromagnetic interference (EMI) testing. Create procedures, perform tests and analyze results to determine design capabilities of embedded systems that will operate in rugged environments – including projects for industrial, commercial, military and aerospace customers.

Specific responsibilities include

  • Perform Environmental Qualification Testing (EQT) – including shock, vibration, humidity, storage temperature and operating temperature tests.
  • Perform Power Verification Testing (PVT) to determine total power draw of products in a variety of scenarios.
  • Create and release test procedures, logs and reports.
  • Work with project managers and the sales team in developing custom ruggedization requirements.
